Page 6October 2011By.Deo CurtsIt was a fabulous Sunday for a Corvette ride, and the Corvette color of the day wasRED. Beautiful corn fields and rolling hills in our fantastic Illinois country side.We lost some people to the Bears game, but gained a few more, who just wanted tospend the day outside with their Corvettes, friends, sunshine and there was plenty ofSUNSHINE. Not a cloud in the sky.We traveled west from Fisherman’s Inn on Main Street, Elburn. Past all the familyfarms selling their pumpkins and Indian corn. Smells like fall in Illinois, combiningcorn and soybeans, people out mowing their grass for the last time.Hanks Farm Restaurant had great food. The people, who went to the pumpkin patch, had a great time. We didn’t lose anyone to the Corn Maze. Although Steve did onceagain beat me out of the maze, I don’t know how he does it. The Illinoisfarms are so beautiful; We truly live in the center of it all.So for those of you who stayed in and watched the bears win, You gambledand WON! Next week you might not be so lucky. I’ll be carving my pumpkin and getting the car cover and the trickle charger out. Yow it is that timeof year again. The Red, White and Blue Tour, see article on page 7.The Red, White and Blue Tour

Page 7October 2011By.Ellen & Dick Scott; Barb Lunn & Chuck Greenberg and Karen & Paul WestonThe Scott's, the Weston's, Chuck Greenberg and Barb Lunn did a red, white and blue Vette tour to PAto see the historical sights. We had a great time and had many thumbs-up as the three Vettes drovedown the highway and parked in order in the many parking lots. Here are the highlights of what we saw.by the way it rained almost every day, but the temps were inthe upper 70's low 80's. So it wasn't too bad, we just always kept the raincoats and umbrellas handy.Day 1: Drove all day to PA in the rain. Breakfast in West Unity, Ohio. 1.95 for 1 plate size Pancake.Day 2: We went to Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Waters House and Kentuck Knob House. This was thereason for the trip.Paul's dream of seeing these homes. (Checked off the Bucket List.). Next was theFlight 93 Memorial. Very peaceful and quiet. On our way to Gettysburg, dinner outside at a Biker Bar (norain) with Great food and a fantastic view of the sunset.Day 3: Gettysburg, we did a bus tour. The rain was so bad that day, we could not even get off the bus. Therestaurant we chose for lunch was flooded but we found another cute diner to fill our needs and stomachs. We could have had another day there to see the town. No shopping for the girls. Ice cream at 3B’s in Harrisburg a find by Chuck and Paul on their previous ‘Blow Up Chuck’s Vette on the way to Carlisle’ trip.Day 4: Philadelphia. We did the on and off trolley tour.great way to get the highlights and make decisions of where you want to get off and see the sights. Had lunch at the Reading Terminal Market wheremore than 80 vendors have what you crave – corned beef and cheesecake, etc. We toured the Eastern StatePenitentiary (first one in the country), a horrible place to spend time. We would have liked another day inPhiladelphia to see everything.Day 5: Valley Forge and the sun was shining.then on to Hershey.CHOCOLATE and another trolley tour. This was a great way to learn the history of Milton Hershey and the school he established in thelocal community. Eat more Chocolate - Buy more Hershey Candy, .Day 6: Drove to Auburn, IN to see the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.some mighty fine cars.Day 7: Shipshewana, IN, Amish country.great food and shopping (finally).then we headedhome (in the rain).only a 2 1/2 hour drive. We took lots of pictures and got a great education about this wonderful country. Pennsylvania is one of the most beautiful stateswith its mountains and forests.Save the Wave

This year is no exception andlet me be the first to say it “Dues Are Due!”. Here is a little background regarding the timing of thisevent. The club By-Laws state that the club year runs from January through the end of December. Then, whyare we paying dues now, you say!? Well its like this1. In order to be eligible to run for office your dues for the up-coming year need to be current (Paid up).2. The slate of candidates is created and presented to the membership at the November meeting.3. Only members who have paid their dues for the new year are able to receive a ballot and vote.4. Therefore we start to collect Dues at the September meeting so our membership will be ready for the bigelection. You may pay your dues in a variety of ways— First you could pay at any monthly meeting, second you couldmail in your check, third you could have another club member pay your dues ;).Yearly renewal of dues is 30.00, which includes a free electronic copy of the club newsletter. A paper copyof the newsletters could be purchased from the club at a cost of 14.00 per year.
